Packaging for retorts

The packaging that can withstand the heat and pressure of the retort sterilisation process is varied. 
Traditionally Cans & glass jars were used that permitted long shelf life product.
There have been recent advancements that change the dynamic and open up different avenues to gain a difference and get your product to stand out on the shelf.
Metal and plastic trays can be used to hold and display product with a large opening that could potentially be either mixed in the container (with sauces/condiments) or eaten directly from the package.
Flexible pouches open up avenues of transparent packaging to display directly to buyers the product inside, great for use with organic or paddock to plate traceable food.
A recent new package available is the Tetra Recart - a Tetra Brik style package that generates packaging space savings and also presents large marketable frontal areas that can further extend your marketing push.
